2026 Community Organisation of the Year Queanbeyan awarded to Queanbeyan Senior Citizens Association
Queanbeyan Senior Citizen’s Association is a dedicated organisation committed to promoting the welfare of all Senior Citizens in the City of Queanbeyan and surrounding districts in the following ways:
To establish and maintain a club for senior citizens.
To maintain appropriate facilities for the use by senior citizens.
To raise funds for the functioning of the Seniors’ Centre.
To provide a place where senior citizens can meet, engage socially, extend their mental alertness, and participate in physical activities.
Joining a senior citizens association can offer many benefits, depending on your goals, interests, and lifestyle. Here are some compelling reasons why it can be a great idea:
Social Connection and Community.
From 1 September joining fee is $20 and annual renewal membership fee is $10 per financial year.
Opportunity and right to attend monthly meetings and vote and express opinions.
Combat loneliness & mental stimulation: Many seniors experience social isolation. Associations provide regular opportunities to connect with others.
Make new friends: Meet people with shared life experiences and interests.
Participant in events: Try out social gatherings, crafts, games, travel groups, and holiday celebrations. Feel free to explore/learn any activity that interests you.
Subsidised transportation to lunch/trips.
Health and Wellness Support subsidised fitness classes tailored for older adults.
We were honoured to accept this award on behalf of Queanbeyan Senior Citizens. It highlights our goal to offer a welcoming space for seniors to connect, stay mentally active, and participate in physical activities. Thank you to all our members who volunteer endless hours each week and special thanks to Brenda for her valuable contributions. This achievement reflects the collective effort of everyone involved.
